Let’s Just Shine - A New Era of Art Making

Here’s some stuff I’m working on for this coming season and year. It will blow your mind!!!
Look at me!! Its only been a few weeks since my last post!!!! (pats back lightly….) I have made a
Cottage Artwork
list! Yes indeed. Lists are good. They make your brain see the thoughts on a paper and then feel guilty if you don’t follow thru later. No but seriously it’s been proven that if you write with pen on paper your thoughts, ideas and plans you are more likely to not only remember them but also commit to doing them.
Plus the act of checking off or crossing out the item when it’s completed is really quite satisfying (apparently your brain sends a little endorphin “feel good” packet )  So write stuff down. Or at least try it if you’re not already doing it.
Alright so my list includes a whole gamut of art projects I want to start and complete over the next 4 months as well as things I want to learn.
First off; my list included updating my website and linking this blog to it. Check mark (endorphin packet sent!!).
Next figure out how to send out these blog meanderings to follower via email…… still working on that!

What’s on the horizon?

Print on Demand merch available thru my website. These products will include wearable art that is printed and shipped from Canada!!! Yaaayyyyyy!!!!!!!  Designs will incorporate my fine art AND (this part is really new and exciting) my graphic design work!!!!!
>>>>>>Why have I finally decided to use my graphic design skills in my art offerings to my followers and clients???? Well to be honest it seems silly NOT to!!!! I have a lot of graphic design experience including using Illustrator to create fine art- like illustrations. So I will be experimenting with melding my various creative energies.
Painted Light Jar
Jewelry. What you say? Jewelry??? Yeah sure why not?!? Few know that I once spent a lot of energy creating beaded jewelry. I still have some inventory; actually. But the new jewelry will be made with natural materials and will be both practical and unique. I require a learning curve to do this the way I envision. And that’s exciting and challenging. My only possible drawback is that my fine motor skills have deteriorated simply because of age and probably the arthritis. But I’m confident over time and practice this will improve.
Paper Mache. I used to love mucking around with paper mache. Its messy, cheap and has endless possibilities.  I’ve already started to incorporate it into a few 2D artworks. I will be creating videos this week during which I will be working on these mixed media artworks and just rambling about my art practice, my hometown and just life in general. Subscribe to the YouTube channel so you don’t miss out.
And videos, as just mentioned, will also become another creative outlet for me. In the past I’ve messed around with video editors, slides, live motion film etc creating videos for family and friends. I always thought well I’m just an amateur messing around. Yes, yes I am, but that doesn’t mean my work is any less valueable.
Which brings me to something that isn’t on my list but on my mind constantly lately. Its time to stop considering my creative pursuits as ”less than” other art I see in the world. My work has value. Everyone’s work has value. It’s time to change the dialogue in my head and just do it. Just try stuff. Just take that chance. Just apply for that show. Just make that thing. Because ya know, if this whole pandemic situation has taught me nothing else; it’s that life is so very very short; our time here is so brief; that we really truly need to just do it, this is the one and only chance we get to show our light within.
So let’s just shine.
